Stress is ruining our lives.
Not that we need someone with a rocket-science degree to tell us that, but if we are going to deal with it, we need to be willing to acknowledge it.
Stress comes from a variety of places: relational issues, money issues, health issues – the list goes on.
So how about we jump in and get to the starting point of the solution?
Well, I believe it’s simpler than we realize. But let me say something I share frequently: just because something is simple, doesn’t mean it’s always easy. I understand.
But, it doesn’t change the fact that there is a path to becoming a “stress-buster” in your own life…
Give Your Worries to God and let Him work it out for you.
When I say “give your worries to God”, I’m not talking about a casual acknowledgement that the big man upstairs might be willing to help you out in life every now and then.
I’m talking about recklessly throwing your burdens, worries, anxieties AND stresses on the Lord. But don’t just take my word for it, take God at His Word.
“Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.” – 1 Peter 5:7 (Amplified)
God doesn’t say cast one thing, or a few things, or half the worries and stresses on Him.
Nope. He wants them all.
And He doesn’t want you to take them back. If you cast it on the Lord, it’s no longer yours. It’s now His.
Unless you choose to take it back and start stressing over it again.
I get it. Faith and trusting God is one of those things that on the surface, seems absolutely crazy.
In the midst of visible issues and circumstances that aren’t so good in our lives, how are we supposed to just trust that a seemingly invisible God will take care of us?
Well, as crazy as it does seem, He promises us in His Word (the Bible) that if we “cast” (like throw with all our passion) our cares on Him, He will do the rest.
Everything good in my life, including the paths that I’ve discovered for great health, have come about by letting go of my worry about how something will work out, trusting God to take care of it, and then watching Him overdeliver on His ability to take care of me.
It’s astounding. It’s not always quick (many times though, it is far quicker than I expected), but it’s always better than I can even comprehend.
Give it a try. The key, is to not take the worry back.
Throw your worries and burdens on Him, and keep doing it until you have peace. And then watch Him work it out.
There’s other things you can implement in order to successfully deal with stress, but I wanted to share the one with you today that I know is most important. It’s the starting point
