Comparison. We all do it. We use other human beings to help grade ourselves on our own lives. Stay at home mom’s beat themselves up because they don’t have time to obtain a six pack like that other mom they know. High school girls scroll through Pinterest to find the latest and greatest “thinspiration” workout so they can look like that cheerleader that all the guys want. Single girls in their late 20’s look at their married peers and wonder where they went wrong.
We begin to focus so much on what we aren’t that we completely miss what we are.
What would happen if everyone stopped looking to others for validation and found acceptance in themselves?
Pastor Bill Johnson says, “Anyone who knows who God made them to be will never try to be someone else.” How powerful is that?
My challenge for you today is to stop comparing yourselves to others (especially to strangers on the internet). Start today by focusing on who you are and who God created you to be. Your life may look vastly different than others, but only you have access to the things God has given to you.
When you find yourself stuck in comparison, begin counting your blessings. You’ll be surprised to find how good you actually have it…
