We can’t make it alone.
We all need someone, or multiple someone’s to walk through life together.
There is so much beauty in community. I’m a firm believer that we were not made to live in isolation.
If we were, God would not have bothered to create Eve for Adam. God is the one who said, “It is not good for man to be alone.” Without community, it would be easy for us to not live up to our full potential and fall into discouragement and even depression.
One of my favorite examples from the bible of community is in Exodus 17 when the Amalekites attacked the Israelites.
“The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.” So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset.”
Moses knew that he needed Aaron and Hur to be able to fulfill what the Lord had commanded him to do. Without his close friends, the entire Israelite community would have been defeated and brought to shame. While we may not be on the war grounds fighting an enemy nation, we are at war in the spiritual realm on a daily basis! The battle for your health is no different! The enemy wants nothing more to see your health fail!
Who are the people in your life that are going to “hold your arms up” when you are weak?
These are the people that will not allow you to sabotage yourself when you feel like eating a gallon of ice-cream, but the people who are going to challenge you to rise above your cravings into the person you were created to be!
If you can find one friend like this, you’re blessed. If you have two, you’re a rich person relationally! I encourage you to rally the troops, so to speak, who will help you on your journey to health.
If you already have these people in your life, that’s incredible. Make sure you take a minute today to reach out to them and let them know how grateful you are for them.
However, if you’re in search for people to walk through life with, I want you to take a proactive step, and reach out to 1-2 people and invite them into your journey.
Be real with them when it comes to your life state as well as your goals. Give them three ways that they can help encourage you.
It may feel very vulnerable. And honestly, it is.
But having people like this in your life makes the journey so much sweeter…and easier.

This has been an issue of mine most of my life. I open myself up to people only to get hurt. It seems even when I let someone know that I need friends, I am forgotten. I’m not asking for a pity party. My husband is my biggest supporter year biggest sabotager lol. I will have to walk this out with me, myself and God
